I would not have read this book if it’s not mandatory reading for business school。 Lost a lot of literary brain cells while reading it but at least I learned some Operations and Process Improvement related concepts。 Herbie is the cutest though！

The only reason this isn’t five stars is because it’s a little too long。 It’s a book that has affected the way I’ve run my business the past 17 years。 It focuses on a factory setting but applies to all business。

Very interesting how we focus on optimizing siloed parts of business thinking huge improvements are being made even though holistically that is not improving the end goal （i。e sell more products even though efficiency of a machine is increased）。 Mostly this happens because of bottleneck and because some thing unintuivily do not change the end output。

I am glad my managerial accounting class made me read this because it has been on my list for a while。 I enjoy how educational it is， yet maintains a storyline。 Toward the end it starts to feel a little redundant， and I think the wife came off a little dramatic and juvenile， which was slightly frustrating。 However， I recommend this book， and I think that overall it is a fantastic read！
